I just learned about Frank Rosolino

Wow, what an interesting guy. A bit disturbing to know his tragic ending after listening to to his “Turn Me Loose” album.

I found his singing voice to be too nasal and thin for me to enjoy, but his solo section is both stunningly creative and virtuosic. Skip to the last 2/3 of the song to go straight to it- it’s right after the piano solo. WOWWWWW is all I can say.

Well, okay, I can say more. I really liked how his soloing sounded very loose and precise at the same time. Like you can hear how relaxed his mouth is and yet still incredibly precise. I would love to be able to achieve this vocally.
